Latvijas Pasts (Latvia Post) Shipping Guide 2026: Services, Prices, Tracking

Latvijas Pasts, also known as Latvia Post, is Latvia's state-owned postal operator. It ships parcels through four channels: parcel lockers, courier delivery in Latvia and the Baltics, postal shipments from customer service locations, and international mail ranging from untracked Economy items to Premium (EMS) courier delivery. Parcels can weigh up to 30 kg, prices start at €1.72 for a small locker-to-locker parcel in Latvia, and every service except Economy and simple domestic mail comes with a tracking number you can follow at mans.pasts.lv.

If you sell online from Latvia, or ship to Latvian customers, Latvijas Pasts is hard to avoid. It runs a network of post offices and more than 440 parcel lockers, and its services cover everything from a 20 g letter to a 500 kg pallet. The rules, though, are spread across many pages, so this guide puts them in one place. If Latvia Post is one of several carriers you use, a multi-carrier shipping platform lets you compare your carrier rates and print labels in bulk, and a tracking dashboard shows the latest status of your shipments in one place.

Key Takeaways

  1. Latvijas Pasts offers four ways to send: parcel lockers, courier, customer service locations, and international postal services.
  2. Locker parcels come in four sizes (XS to L), all up to 30 kg, from €1.72 within Latvia and €4.90 to Baltic lockers.
  3. International shipments range from untracked Economy to Premium (EMS) courier delivery, which only covers a limited list of countries.
  4. Parcels leaving the EU worth more than €1,000 need an export customs declaration, and shipments to Russia and Belarus are inspected under EU sanctions.
  5. Tracking works for every service except Economy and simple domestic mail, through the Latvijas Pasts tracking tool at mans.pasts.lv/track.

What Is Latvijas Pasts and Which Services Does It Offer?

Latvijas Pasts is Latvia's state-owned postal operator. You create most shipments online in the Mans Pasts portal or hand them over at a customer service location. If you sell through store and marketplace integrations, decide which service fits which order before you set up shipping rules. Here is how the four channels compare, based on the official Latvijas Pasts send parcel page.

Service Where it delivers Typical speed Best for
Parcel locker shipments Latvia, plus lockers in Lithuania and Estonia As soon as the next day Low-cost B2C orders up to 30 kg
Courier delivery Any address in Latvia and the Baltic States Next business day in Latvia and Tallinn Home delivery and bulky items
Postal shipments in Latvia Any address or post office in Latvia Not published Letters and small packets
International shipments International, with country-specific restrictions (EMS to selected countries only) Depends on service and destination Cross-border orders

Parcel lockers (pakomāts)

Latvijas Pasts describes its locker network as the widest in Latvia. You create the shipment online, choose "Send" on the locker screen, enter the code from your email, and drop the parcel in. Parcels arrive as soon as the next day, and you can also send to partner lockers in Lithuania and Estonia.

Courier delivery in Latvia and the Baltics

The courier service collects parcels from your address at a time that suits you and delivers to any address in Latvia and the Baltic States. Delivery is next business day across Latvia and in Tallinn, and usually within two business days elsewhere in Estonia and Lithuania. Inside Latvia there are two service levels: X1 covers the whole country, while X2 delivers to Riga and major cities by 11:00 the next working day.

Latvia Post Parcel Sizes and Weight Limits

Each service measures differently: lockers use fixed compartments, while courier and international parcels use a formula where A is the longest side and B and C are the other two.

Parcel type Max weight Max dimensions
Locker XS 30 kg 8.5 × 16 × 58 cm
Locker S 30 kg 8.5 × 38 × 58 cm
Locker M 30 kg 18 × 38 × 58 cm
Locker L 30 kg 38 × 38 × 58 cm
Courier parcel (Latvia and Baltics) 30 kg A + B + C ≤ 210 cm
Small parcel (domestic and international) 2 kg A + B + C < 90 cm, A max 60 cm
Standard international parcel Varies by destination A + (B + C) × 2 ≤ 200 cm, A max 105 cm
Premium (EMS) parcel Up to 30 kg, varies by destination A + (B + C) × 2 ≤ 300 cm, A max 150 cm
Pallet (courier) 500 kg Must fit within the pallet's width and length

Anything larger counts as non-standard, so contact Latvijas Pasts customer support before sending it. Full rules are on the shipment preparation page, and you'll find more guides in our shipping resources.

How Much Does It Cost to Send a Parcel with Latvijas Pasts?

Latvijas Pasts publishes locker prices openly, which makes them the easiest to plan around. These are the current prices in euros.

Route XS S M L
Locker to locker (Latvia) €1.72 €2.12 €2.92 €3.82
Courier to locker / locker to courier (Latvia) €4.50 €5.51 €7.50 €9.50
Locker to locker (Baltics) €4.90 €4.90 €4.90 €4.90
Courier to locker in Lithuania €9.00 €9.83 €10.02 €11.64
Courier to locker in Estonia €9.66 €10.37 €11.56 €14.58

For domestic postal parcels sent from a customer service location, a registered parcel costs €7.01 up to 1 kg plus €1.25 for each extra kilogram, up to 20 kg. Courier and international prices depend on weight, size and destination, so Latvijas Pasts sends you to the tariff calculator (the "Latvijas Pasts kalkulators") or the downloadable tariff book.

💡 Pro Tip: Price your Baltic shipping by locker size, not weight

Every locker size accepts up to 30 kg, so a heavy but compact item costs the same as a light one. Pack to the smallest compartment that fits. The flat €4.90 Baltic locker price also makes an easy checkout option for Lithuanian and Estonian customers.

International Shipping with Latvia Post: Economy to Premium (EMS)

For international shipments (starptautiskie pasta sūtījumi), Latvijas Pasts sells five service levels. The difference comes down to tracking, proof of delivery, and how much you get back if a parcel goes missing. This comparison is based on the official international shipments page.

Criteria Economy Standard Standard+ Standard+ insured Premium (EMS)
Tracking number No Yes Yes Yes Yes
Delivery Letterbox Letterbox Against signature or system confirmation Against signature or system confirmation Courier to the recipient's address
Max weight 2 kg 2 kg 2 kg or 30 kg 2 kg or 30 kg 30 kg
Compensation for loss None None Up to €49.00 + €5.51 per full kg for parcels, plus service fee Declared value About €148 for goods, €34.15 for documents, plus service fee
Destinations Country restrictions apply Country restrictions apply Country restrictions apply Country restrictions apply Limited list only

Premium is Latvia Post's version of EMS, the international express postal product offered by postal operators in the Universal Postal Union network and coordinated by the EMS Cooperative, a body of the UPU. It reaches destinations such as the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan and Australia, but not overseas territories.

⚠ Warning: Premium (EMS) cover stops at about €148

Latvijas Pasts only insures Premium shipments if the contents are worth no more than about €148 for goods (€34.15 for documents). Above that, the parcel is not insured at all. For high-value orders, Standard+ insured is the service that covers the declared value, and it is the only one that also offers fragile handling.

How to Send a Parcel with Latvijas Pasts, Step by Step

Whether you ship to Riga or Rio, the process follows the same four steps.

1
Create the shipment online

Log in to Mans Pasts and create the shipment with the recipient's details, the parcel size and the service level. You can also create it at a parcel locker or at a customer service location.

2
Pack and label the parcel

Use a sturdy box, fill empty space, and attach the label with the shipment number and barcode.

💡 Leave at least one smooth, flat surface of 100 × 150 mm so the label can be scanned.

3
Choose how to hand it over

Drop it in a parcel locker using the emailed code, book a courier pickup from your address, or leave it at a customer service location or post office.

4
Track it to delivery

Share the tracking number with your customer and follow the parcel at mans.pasts.lv/track.

Packaging and addressing rules

Use a shock-resistant box, ideally new; factory packaging alone doesn't count as transport packaging. For international parcels, write the address in Latin letters in the destination country's language, with the country name in capitals (the whole address in capitals for the USA).

Customs Rules for Latvia Post Shipments Outside the EU

Latvia is in the EU, so parcels to other EU countries generally need no customs declaration. Once a parcel leaves the EU, the rules change. According to Latvijas Pasts' customs page, any export worth more than €1,000 needs an export customs declaration, which Latvijas Pasts can prepare for you from €10. Export declarations across the EU are filed electronically through the EU Automated Export System.

Whatever the value, parcels to non-EU countries also need a CN22 or CN23 customs form, depending on weight and value. If you're not sure which one applies, our guide to CN22 vs CN23 explains the difference.

Prohibited and restricted items

Latvijas Pasts won't carry narcotics, explosive, flammable or radioactive substances, perishable food, or live animals (apart from bees, leeches and silkworm larvae). Liquids go by air only for contract customers who have sent safety data sheets in advance. Country-specific limits are in the prohibitions section.

⚠ Warning: Russia and Belarus shipments are inspected

Exports to Russia and Belarus fall under EU sanctions. Latvijas Pasts inspects these shipments and detains any that contain sanctioned goods, so check the sanctions lists before you accept orders from these countries.

Latvijas Pasts Tracking: How to Track a Parcel

Latvijas Pasts tracking runs through one tool: enter the tracking number at mans.pasts.lv/track and you'll see the parcel's journey from drop-off to delivery. Standard, Standard+, Standard+ insured and Premium shipments are all trackable. Economy shipments have no tracking number, so they can't be followed at all.

What does a Latvijas Pasts tracking number look like?

International postal items use the Universal Postal Union's S10 standard: a two-letter service code, an eight-digit serial number, a check digit, and the two-letter code of the issuing country. A Latvia Post tracking number therefore ends in "LV", for example RS123456785LV. Codes starting with "R" are registered items and codes starting with "E" are EMS (Premium) items. Tracking is not available for Premium shipments to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

How long does Latvia Post delivery take?

Within Latvia, courier and locker parcels arrive as soon as the next business day. Baltic locker parcels reach Vilnius and Tallinn the next day if you drop them off before the cut-off (16:00 on working days in Riga and Mārupe), and other Lithuanian and Estonian cities the day after next. International transit times depend on the destination and aren't listed on the main service pages, and customs checks are not included in the estimates.

Managing Latvijas Pasts Shipments Alongside Other Carriers

Few Baltic merchants ship with just one carrier, and a separate portal for each one eats time. With ShippyPro, you connect each carrier contract you have under Carriers > Connection and add your carrier rates. When you ship, ShippyPro compares those rates so you can pick a carrier, then creates the labels for you to print one at a time or all at once.

For orders leaving the EU, ShippyPro can generate CN22 customs forms in bulk, up to 100 at a time. Once orders ship, they appear in Track & Trace, where you can filter by status (In Transit, Exception, Failed Attempt) and spot problems early. Tracking numbers sync to your sales channels, and ShippyPro sends automatic tracking emails for the statuses you choose. Developers can use the ShippyPro API, or you can create an account to try it.
